EyeCare 20/20 cares about giving back and helping others in need in our community. Join us in raising funds and awareness for Vision Harvest, our current charity.

VisionHarvest

VisionHarvest is a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to assisting patients in paying for life changing surgery to correct their cataracts. Cataracts affect over 22 million Americans, causing ever-increasing poor vision, including such symptoms as “halos” around lights, faded color, double vision in one eye, and more frequent changes to your glasses or contacts prescription. Unfortunately, the only treatment for cataracts is surgery, which can be difficult to pay for without health insurance, if not impossible. VisionHarvest provides cataract surgery for people who would not otherwise be able to pay for it. Past Efforts

Americares.org for Japanese Survivors

In the past we have invited patients to donate to www.AmeriCares.org which provides financial support to the Japanese survivors of the tsunami, earthquakes, and nuclear disaster.

AmeriCares is a nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization which provides immediate response to emergency medical needs, as well as supports long-term humanitarian assistance programs, for all people around the world, irrespective of race, creed or political persuasion. AmeriCares has developed partnerships here in the US and around the world that ensure that for every dollar you donate to AmeriCares, they can deliver $35 in lifesaving medicines, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid to the people who need it most.

The Valerie Fund

The Valerie Fund, an organization that provides support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders, is another charitable cause we have supported in the past.

Established in 1976 in memory of nine year old Valerie Goldstein, by her parents Ed and Sue, The Valerie Fund provides state-of-the-art outpatient health care throughout the tri-state area for children with cancer and blood disorders . Patients receive far more than treatment for their physical illnesses, as the philosophy of The Valerie Fund is to treat them emotionally, socially and developmentally, as well as medically.

American Heart Association and Go Red For Women

We teamed up with the American Heart Association and Go Red For Women on a mission to fight heart disease in women. We were able to offer $500.00 off a bi-lateral LASIK surgery from our efforts and donations that were made from patients.

Go Red For Women has raised more than $200 million to benefit women’s cardiovascular health. The American Heart Association uses revenue collected to support awareness, research, education and community programs to benefit women and to motivate them to reduce their risks.

Warm Coats, Warm Hearts Coat Drive

EyeCare 20/20 participated in the Burlington Coat Factory and Good Morning America’s Warm Coats, Warm Hearts Coat Drive. Employees and patients were encouraged to bring in new, or gently coats to donate to the organization and were given a $60 coupon good for any complete pair of prescription eyeglasses or $20 off any non-prescription sunglasses in EyeCare 20/20 optical shop as a thank you for participating.

All coats and outerwear collected were dropped off at the Burlington Coat Factory in Montville and distributed to people in need throughout the community.

Toys for Tots

EyeCare 20/20 joined forces with the Madison Police Department and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots. Employees and patients were encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys and were given a $60 coupon good for any complete pair of prescription eyeglasses or $20 off any non-prescription sunglasses in EyeCare 20/20 optical shop as a thank you for participating.

For over the 58 years of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 351 million toys for 166 million needy children. This charitable endeavor has made the U.S. Marines the unchallenged leaders in looking after needy children at Christmas.

Market Street Mission

For Thanksgiving 2010, EyeCare 20/20 teamed up with the Market Street Mission in their 20 meals for $55 program to feed the less fortunate. EyeCare 20/20 matched each donation and extended a $750 discount toward LASIK as a thank you.

Since 1889, the Market Street Mission has been reaching out to the poor and needy in Morris County. Market Street assists individuals to overcome homelessness, addictions, and disabilities. Last year alone, the Market Street Mission served 88,067 meals to homeless and underprivileged individuals.

Lee National Denim Day

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, EyeCare 20/20 participated in Lee National Denim Day on Friday, October 8, 2010. This grassroots program has raised more than $70 million for breast cancer research. For the fifth year in a row, employees at EyeCare 20/20 dressed in denim in exchange for a donation to the Women’s Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF). Funds raised from their efforts supported some of the most promising treatment and early detection research in the country, as well as the grassroots advocacy work of the National Breast Cancer Coalition.

CHARITY: WATER

EyeCare 20/20 partnered with Andy Sernovitz and our friends at Gas Pedal in an attempt to raise $50,000 for Charity: Water. Dr. Silverman donated $100 from every LASIK surgery performed at EyeCare 20/20 from July 14, 2010 to Labor Day in an effort to provide safe drinking water to people around the world. We also encouraged patients scheduled for LASIK at EyeCare 20/20 to do the same in order to qualify for a discount on their upcoming procedure.

Almost a billion people don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water…that’s one in eight. Charity: Water is a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. They use 100% of public donations to directly fund sustainable water solutions in areas of greatest need. Just $20 can give one person clean water for 20 years.
