Silverman, M.D. In order to provide the most comprehensive vision care possible, Dr. Silverman works with a team of physicians to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Nicholas Xanthos, O.D. – Therapeutic Optometrist
Nicholas Xanthos, O.D., is a 2000 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his optometric residency in Ocular Disease at Omni Eye Service. Dr. Xanthos is a member of the American Optometric Society and the New Jersey Optometric Society.
Dr. Xanthos specializes in a wide range of eye care needs including, routine eye care, post-operative eye care, and contact lenses.
Benjamin D. Freilich, M.D.- Diseases and Surgery of the Retina, Macula and Vitreous
Benjamin D. Freilich, M.D., F.A.C.S., is board certified in ophthalmology and specialty-trained in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. His training includes a fellowship in retina surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and The Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Dr. Freilich received his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in 1989 and a B.S. from the University of Chicago in 1985.
He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and licensed in New York and New Jersey. His special interests include treatment and management of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinal vascular occlusions, as well as other retinal and vitreous diseases.
Michael J. Richard, M.D.- Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery
Michael J. Richard, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Richard has over 10 years of experience focusing on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the upper and lower eyelids and face.
Dr. Richard joins Eye Care 20/20 from one of the most prestigious eye centers in the nation, Duke Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina.
While at Duke Eye Center, Dr. Richard practiced the latest diagnostic, medical, and surgical techniques in eye research and care today. During his time at Duke, Dr. Richard was an Assistant Professor with appointments in both the Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Richard has written dozens of publications on the latest research and advances in eye care and has lectured around the world.
Dr. Richard has expertise in a broad range of medical and surgical conditions, including cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, blepharospasm, orbital tumors, tear duct surgery, skin cancers, ocular surface cancer, thyroid eye disease, and orbital and facial trauma.
Dr. Richard is also a highly skilled cosmetic surgeon who performs both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures using lasers, injectable fillers, and neuromodulators. These include laser skin resurfacing, Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Voluma, Juvederm, Restylane, Sculptra, Kybella, Belotero, and Radiesse.
Dr. Richard is actively involved in international philanthropic work as an affiliate of the Himalayan Cataract Project (https://www.cureblindness.org). He has traveled to Nepal, Ethiopia, and Cuba to provide medical care and training to local ophthalmologists.
Martin E. Corwin, M.D., Emeritus (RETIRED)
Martin E. Corwin, M.D., Emeritus, joins EyeCare 20/20 after having his private practice in Livingston, New Jersey since 1963. Dr. Corwin is a graduate of New York Downstate Medical School, Brooklyn New York and completed his ophthalmology residency at Kings County Medical Center, Brooklyn. Dr. Corwin is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, the Essex County Medical Society, and the Medical Society of New Jersey.
Over the past 40 years, Dr. Corwin has maintained a standard of providing state-of-the-art eye care, combined with the highest quality of personalized service.
Allison Gunzburg, MD
Dr. Gunzburg graduated from the University of Illinois with an undergraduate degree in accounting. She worked in public accounting in her hometown of Chicago before returning to medical school to pursue a lifelong interest in medicine. She attended Northwestern University Medical School before completing her residency at the University of Chicago, where she received the excellence in patient care award. Dr. Gunzburg then moved to St. Louis, Missouri for fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery. She practiced for four years in St. Louis, where she was named a Top Doctor. Dr. Gunzburg relocated to New Jersey for family reasons and has worked in the area for ten years.
Dr. Gunzburg is an experienced board certified ophthalmologist and eye surgeon, currently specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract and refractive surgery and glaucoma procedures. She is well trained and skilled in complex cataract surgery using the latest technologies including laser cataract surgery. She has vast experience with the currently available intraocular lens implants and counsels patients to help them achieve their desired surgical result. Dr. Gunzburg treats glaucoma and combines glaucoma procedures (lasers and implantable drainage devices) with cataract surgery for the appropriate patients.
In addition, Dr. Gunzburg has a special interest in dry eye disease, understanding and treating the nuances of this potentially frustrating condition. She is an extremely compassionate and patient physician who is known to give her patients the time, information and respect they deserve.
Outside of work, Dr. Gunzburg’s interests include practicing yoga, tennis, reading and spending time with her young daughter.
