Laser eye surgery is a successful way to correct vision and eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses in changing the focusing power of the eye by reshaping the cornea. As with anything, there are inherent benefits and risks to laser eye surgery. Dr. Silverman will assess whether or not you are a good candidate for our laser eye surgery processes by:
- Checking that you are not pregnant or breastfeeding. Women will need to wait at least 3 months after pregnancy or breast feeding to undergo LASIK.
- Assuring that you do not have certain autoimmune diseases (which may cause unexpected and undesirable responses to eye surgery)
- Making sure you’re old enough or that your eye vision has been stable for at least a year
- Ensuring that your eyes are fit for the process – free from dry spots, thin corneas, etc.
